A Postcard from le Drôme Provençale

Wish you were here!

A few years back, we had friends who did what everyone dreams of doing. They sold their house, packed up their most beloved possessions, sold everything else and moved to France… to the Drôme. And, that is how we discovered one of France’s best kept secrets: the valley of Montbrun-les-bains, one of France’s “most beautiful villages”.

This place has a special place in my heart. It is symbolic of my light bulb moment, when it dawned on me that: It doesn’t matter where you are in life (literally or figuratively), “the secret to being happy is accepting where you are and making the most of it everyday.”

But more importantly (for my guests anyway) it is really beautiful here!

So, our Live-Like-a-Local sojourn will include a day visiting villages in the Drôme. We’ll take our guests to our favorite places among those that our friends introduced to us. We’ll bring our guests to Montbrun to stroll up to the castle, we’ll visit Savoillan with it’s charming church and old bakery, but I think they’ll be most impressed by the tiny little village of Barrett-de-Lioure clinging to the mountainside. These are the kind of marvelous places that tourists rarely see!

(I shared my friend’s Pinenut-Kale Tarte recipe on the Sojourner Tours blog!)
